Training Course on 'National Accounts: Financial Sector' in Qatar

In accordance with its 2015 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of the Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the training course on 'National Accounts: Financial Sector' at the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) in Doha, State of Qatar on 8-11 March 2015. The course was conducted by Mr. Mohamed Adel Souidene, Central Director of National Accounts of National Institute of Statistics (INS) of Republic of Tunisia, with the participation of 34 officials of the MDPS.

The training course on ‘National Accounts: Financial Sector’ covered the following topics:

  • The components of financial system
  • Monetary and financial statistics
  • Synthesis of monetary statistics in financial operations tables as per SNA 2008
  • Insurance on life and damage statistics
  • Compilation of monetary and financial statistics in national accounting operations
  • Compilation of insurance accounts and technical tables in National Insurance Accounts as per SNA 2008
  • Completion of the financial accounts of the flows and assets (opening budgets, closure budgets, financial flows accounts and changing budgets)
  • The budgets between assets and liabilities of the financial operations flows between the various institutional sectors
  • Financial operations tables for the flows and assets
  • Calculation of financial services indirectly measured "FISIM" and its distribution among institutional sectors as final consumption of households and export to the rest of the world.
  • Calculation of the production and the added value of the insurance sector and the reforms to be made in the redistribution of income account
  • National accounts for banks and insurance companies, namely production, exploitation accounts, distribution and redistribution of income accounts and capital account.
  • Case studies on the work carried out at the INS of Republic of Tunisia highlighting the changes as per SNA 2008.
