In accordance with its 2015 Annual Work Plan, SESRIC organised the training course on ‘Professional Skills for Official Statisticians: Effective Oral Communication Techniques’ at the Agency of Statistics (AoS) of the Republic of Kazakhstan on 17-19 August 2015, within the framework of the Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme. The course was conducted by Mr. Sanan Hasanov, Expert at Business Management Group International (BMGI) of Azerbaijan with participation of relevant officials of AoS.

The course included discussion activities and covered the following topics:

• Appropriate timing to communicate
• Determining the purpose of oral discourse

• Using the right words during effective communication
• Standards of oral communication

• Practicing telephone script

• Using communication skills in corporate environment
• Conflict situations in communication
• Types of actions in conflict situations
