The 34th Annual Meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Board of Governors took place in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan on 2-3 June 2009. H.E. Dr. Savaş Alpay, Director General of SESRIC represented the Centre thereat.

The Meeting was inaugurated by speeches from H.E. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, President of Turkmenistan; H.E. Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali, President of the Islamic Development Bank Group, and H.E. Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu, Secretary General of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference.

Several working sessions that took place during the meeting were:

1. The 16th Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC)
2. The 9th General Assembly of the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD)
3. The 4th General Assembly of the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), and
4. The 2nd Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Solidarity Fund

The 20th Annual Symposium of IDB was on the theme: "Shaping the Post-Crisis World: Regional Implications and Coordinated Responses by Member Countries".
