Within the framework of the SESRIC’s OIC Tourism Capacity Building Programme (Tr-CaB) and in line with COMCEC Ministerial Policy Recommendations, SESRIC organized a training course on “Developing Multi Destination Tourism Corridors” on 23-27 August 2020 for the benefit of 20 experts and executives from the National Tourism Council of the State of Qatar, Discover Qatar and Doha Bus. The course was conducted through a video conferencing platform by following synchronous learning and instruction approaches.

The training course was provided by competent experts from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey and the Department of Tourism Management of Istanbul University. The topics covered in the training course are:

• Multi-destination tourism, its benefits and types of multi-destination tourism corridors.
• Planning and establishment of multi-destination tourism.
• Environmental analysis, inventory analysis, demand analysis, infrastructure assessment, needs analysis, value chain analysis, benchmark analysis and theme formulation.
• Managing and coordinating stakeholders at multi-destination tourism.
• Governance and institutionalization, stakeholder involvement and representation.
• Destination Management Organisations, their structure, roles and performance indicators.
• Segmenting, targeting, positioning and branding of multi-destination tourism along with the marketing mix.
• Long-term sustainability of the multi-destination tourism corridors; economic, social and environmental sustainability, certification, audit, funding, community involvement and capacity building.
• Turkey’s experience in destination management and multi-destination tourism corridors.

The training course was designed in line with the virtual training solutions undertaken by SESRIC in order to better serve the Centre’s training activities and keep participants motivated and engaged during this time of global crisis due to COVID-19.
