Within its recently initiated Webinar Series on Statistical Experience Sharing, SESRIC organised a webinar on “Population Statistics and Censuses” on 22 February 2021 with the participation of 26 attendees from 20 OIC member countries, namely Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Benin, Brunei, Gabon, Gambia, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mozambique, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Suriname, and Uzbekistan.
Mr. Mehmet Doğu KARAKAYA, Expert at the Population and Migration Statistics Group, Demographic Statistics Department, presented the experience of TurkStat and covered the following topics related to population statistics and censuses:
Following the presentation of Mr. Karakaya, Ms. Rawya ALAWNEH, Expert at the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), also presented the experience and practices of PCBS in population statistics and censuses with the participants and focused on the following topics:
The webinar was conducted through a video conferencing platform by following synchronous learning and instruction approaches designed in line with the virtual training solutions undertaken by SESRIC in order to better serve the Centre’s training activities and keep participants motivated and engaged during this time of global crisis due to COVID-19.
