Within the framework of its Webinar Series on Statistical Experience Sharing, SESRIC organised a Webinar on ‘Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Statistics in OIC Countries’ on 28 June 2021 in collaboration with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) with the participation of 81 official statisticians working in National Statistical Offices (NSOs) and Central Banks of 32 OIC countries as well as the representatives of the Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf (GCC-Stat).
After the welcoming remarks of the representatives of SESRIC and UNCTAD, the Webinar started with the presentation delivered by SESRIC titled “State of FDI in OIC Member Countries: Challenges and Prospects”. Following the presentation of SESRIC, the experts of UNCTAD and Swiss National Bank presented the compilation of data on FDI and activities of multinational enterprises (MNEs) as well as the latest methodologies and recent trends on FDI statistics.

The Webinar was conducted through a video conferencing platform by following synchronous learning and instruction approaches designed in line with the virtual training solutions undertaken by SESRIC in order to better serve the Centre’s training activities and keep participants motivated and engaged during this time of global crisis due to COVID-19.
