Within the framework of the Vocational Education and Training Programme for the Member Countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-VET) and in line with the OIC-TVET Strategic Roadmap 2020-2025, SESRIC organised a Training Course on “Integrating Green Skills and Sustainable Practices into TVET Programmes” on 13-14 March 2024 through an online video conferencing platform.

The training course was provided by competent experts from the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye for the benefit of 80 experts and executives from the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) authorities and relevant national institutions in 22 OIC countries.

The primary purpose of the training course was to equip participants with information, tools, and practical strategies for seamlessly incorporating green skills and sustainable practices into their current TVET curricula, thus enabling them to apply sustainable practices in workplaces and make a meaningful contribution towards a more sustainable future.

The following topics were covered during the two days of the training:

• Green Skills and Sustainability in Vocational and Technical Education by Mr. Halil Emre SEÇGIN, Teacher, Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye
• Education Policies Sustainable Future in Türkiye by Dr. Mustafa YEŞIL, National Education Expert, Ministry of the National Education of the Republic of Türkiye
• Green and Digital Competence Programme by Dr. Yıldız İSAOĞLU, National Education Expert, Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye
• Green Skills and Sustainability Practices in Special Education by Dr. Ahmet KUŞCUOLU, National Education Expert, Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye
• Environmental Climate Surveys by Ms. Yasemen ERDOĞAN, Teacher, Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye
• Sustainable Water and Food Supplies Security by Dr. Abdelaziz HAJJAJI, IOFS Program Manager on Climate Smart Agriculture, the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS)
• Greening TVET and Skills Development by Ms. Hae Kyeung CHUN, Technical officer, Skills and Employability Branch, International Labour Organization (ILO)
