Within the framework of its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC, in collaboration with the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) of the Arab Republic of Egypt, organised a Training Course on “Population and Housing Censuses” on 11-13 June 2024 with the participation of 23 experts from the National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of 8 Arabic speaking OIC countries through an online video conferencing platform..

The training course was provided by prominent experts at CAPMAS of Egypt through comprehensive presentations. The 3-day training course included 11 sessions, and enhanced the technical capacities of the participants in conducting population and housing censuses, focusing on the following areas:

• Methodology and objectives of the general census of population, housing, and establishments
• Planning and governance, including the role of the IT sector in the electronic census
• Infrastructure and technology requirements for the electronic census
• Geographic Information Systems
• Utilisation of technological systems in emergency management
• Electronic census applications, including call center operations and real-time reporting
