SESRIC, in collaboration with the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) within the framework of the IbnSina Health Capacity Building Programme (IbnSina-CaB) organised a webinar on “Epidemiology of Communicable Diseases and the Management of Epidemics in OIC-African Member Countries” on 2 December 2024.
The primary objective of the webinar was to enhance understanding of the epidemiology of communicable diseases among OIC-African countries, share best practices and strategies for managing and controlling epidemics, and strengthen collaboration and coordination among member countries in addressing communicable diseases. It sought to identify challenges and solutions in surveillance, prevention, and response to epidemics while promoting the exchange of knowledge and experiences among healthcare professionals and policymakers.
28 health experts and professionals from the relevant ministries and national institutions of 13 OIC countries attended the webinar. Speakers from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Türkiye, the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), the University of Ilorin in Nigeria, and Muhammad Nawaz Shareef University in Pakistan delivered comprehensive presentations during the webinar on the following topics:
