Within the framework of its Central Banks Capacity Building Programme (CB-CaB), SESRIC organised a Training Course on “Exploring the Potential of Central Banks Digital Currencies (CBDC) in the OIC Member Countries” on 27-28 May 2025.
The training course was provided by competent experts from the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (CIBAFI), State Bank of Pakistan, Marmara University, Institute of Business Administration (IBA), and International University of Malaysia (IIUM), for the benefit of 86 experts and executives from Central Banks and relevant national institutions in 25 OIC countries.
The training aimed to enhance understanding of the potential benefits and challenges of CBDCs in member countries, while providing insights into the regulatory, infrastructural, and technological readiness for their utilisation. Additionally, the training served as a platform for experts from Central Banks, financial authorities, and relevant national institutions of member countries to discuss and exchange knowledge regarding CBDC mandates.

The Central Banks Capacity Building Programme (CB-CaB), developed by SESRIC in 2009, aims to strengthen the institutional and human resources capacities of Central Banks and Monetary Authorities in OIC Member Countries. This is achieved through facilitating the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices. Within this framework, SESRIC organizes various capacity building activities, such as training courses and workshops.
