Within the framework of its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised a Training Course on “SDG 4 (Quality Education) Indicators” for the benefit of 70 participants from National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of 29 OIC Countries on 9-10 December 2025 through an online video conferencing platform.

The training course was conducted by competent experts from Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) as well as the OIC Islamic universities namely; the Islamic University of Technology (IUT), and the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). The training course aimed to improve the capacities of the participants in the collection, collation, processing, and dissemination of SDG 4 (Quality Education) Indicators, as well as to share the relevant country experience of Türkiye with the participating OIC Member Countries.

The training course covered the following topics:

• Overview of the TurkStat and Turkish Statistical System;
• TurkStat experience on Sustainable Development Indicators;
• Türkiye’s SDG4 indicators;
• Outcome-Based Education as a Mechanism for Improving Quality Education in the Context of SDG 4;
• SDG4 Global Thematic Indicator Framework and Data Sources: Issues and Challenges;
• International Comparable Education Data and Statistics Production- Approaches and Tools;
• Development of Students’ Digital Education Competency Framework.
