The Centre organized a training course on “Business Registers” at Khartoum, Sudan on 12-14 November 2012. The course was provided by Mr. Hassen Arouri, an expert from the Tunisian National Institute of Statistics (INS) and was attended by 35 staff members from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) of Sudan.

The training mainly covered the following areas:

• Objectives and uses of the business register for statistical purposes
• Data content and coverage of a business register
• Statistical units : Definitions and relations
• Maintenance of the register
• Access to the register
• Quality assurance and measurement
• Business demography
• Use of administrative sources
