SESRIC participated in the Workshop on “Digitalization of Services in Investment Promotion of OIC Member Countries” organised by the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT) and Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in collaboration with the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC) and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE) in a hybrid format in Casablanca, Kingdom of Morocco on 19-20 December 2022. The Workshop was attended by the senior officials of the Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) of the OIC countries, relevant OIC institutions and international organisations along with several prominent experts.

Within the framework of the Vocational Education and Training Programme for the Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-VET) and in line with the OIC-TVET Strategic Roadmap 2020-2025, SESRIC, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Vocational and Technical Education under the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye, organized a Training of Trainers (ToT) Course on “Graphic Design and Photo Print Techniques” on 13-15 December 2022 through an online video conferencing platform.

Within the framework of the 10^th Call for Project Proposals of COMCEC Project Funding, the COMCEC Coordination Office (CCO) has evaluated the project proposals and announced the short-list of projects that will proceed with the final phase for COMCEC Project Funding. Six projects prepared and submitted by SESRIC covering all six cooperation areas of COMCEC Strategy were eligible for the short-list, namely:

Within the framework of the OIC Occupational Safety and Health Network (OIC-OSHNET), SESRIC provided facilitation and necessary technical support for the Training Course on “Preventing Workplace Hazards”, which was organised by the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health at the Ministry of Labour of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on 06-07 December 2022 through an online video conferencing platform.

Within the framework of the SESRIC’s Occupational Safety and Health Capacity Building Programme (OSH-CaB) and in line with the OIC Occupational Safety and Health Network (OIC-OSHNET) Work Plan 2021-2022, SESRIC organised a Training Workshop on “The Role of Routine Inspections in Preventing Hazards” on 29-30 November 2022 through an online video conferencing platform.

The Second Intergovernmental Expert Group Meeting on the Mid-Term Review Document (MTRD) on the Implementation of the OIC-2025 Programme of Action (PoA) was organised by the OIC General Secretariat in a hybrid format at its Headquarters in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 22 and 24 November 2022. The Meeting brought together the permanent representatives of OIC member countries and representatives of the relevant OIC institutions.

SESRIC, in its capacity as the Secretariat of the OIC Public Employment Services Network (OIC-PESNET), in collaboration with the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR), in its capacity as the Chair of the Network, organized the Annual Meeting of the National Focal Points (NFPs) of the OIC-PESNET on 17 November 2022 through a video conferencing platform.

Within the framework of its Poverty Alleviation Capacity Building Programme (PA-CaB), SESRIC, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills of the Kingdom of Morocco, organised a Training Workshop on “Poverty Reduction Policies and Strategies” on 15-16 November 2022 through an online video conferencing platform.

The SESRIC delegation headed by HE Mr. Nebil Dabur, Director General of SESRIC, participated in the 4^th Session of the Committee on Technology for Development and 15^th Session of the Statistical Committee, organised by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for West Asia (UNESCWA) on 14-17 November 2022 in Beirut, Lebanon. The two Meetings were attended by the representatives of UNESCWA member countries, and regional and international organisations.

Within the framework of its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised a Training Course on ‘Banking, Insurance and Financial Statistics’ with the attendance of 24 participants from the National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of 8 French speaking OIC countries on 14-16 November 2022 through an online video conferencing platform.

Within the framework of its Webinar Series on Statistical Experience Sharing, SESRIC organised a Webinar on ‘Implementation of National Quality Assurance Framework (NQAF) for Official Statistics’ on 8 November 2022, in collaboration with the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) with the participation of 158 experts from the National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of 29 OIC member countries.

Within the framework of SESRIC’s Tourism Capacity Building Programme (Tourism-CaB) and in line with relevant resolutions of the 37th Session of the COMCEC and the 11th Session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers (ICTM), SESRIC and ICDT jointly organised a Training Webinar on “Prospects of Health Tourism in OIC Member Countries” on 8-9 November 2022 through an online video conferencing platform.

H.E. Mr. Nebil DABUR, the Director General of SESRIC, addressed the international forum on “Politics and New Paradigms in the 21^st Century” at the main  panel titled “Crises of the 21^st Century and the Future of Politics”, which was moderated by the Deputy Chairman of the Justice and Development Party of Türkiye Prof. Numan Kurtulmuş. Mr. Dabur’s address focused on the current and future potentials and challenges facing the the Islamic world as represented by the 57 countries that comprise the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, “the OIC”. He highlighted the unique assets that the OIC block has in achieving development and the wellbeing of its people and in assuming an influential role in shaping global politics such as: youth population, energy and natural resources, and strategic geographical location. 

SESRIC participated in the Annual Meeting of Transformative Monitoring for Enhanced Equity (TransMonEE) organized around the topic “TransMonEE: 30 Years of Monitoring Child Rights and Inequities, Taking Stock and Moving Towards Comprehensive Child Rights Monitoring”. The meeting was held in Ankara, Republic of Türkiye on 1-2 November 2022 and co-hosted by UNICEF Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia (ECARO) and Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat). Dr. Cem TİNTİN, Senior Researcher at Economic and Social Research Department, and Mr. Abdulhamit ÖZTÜRK, Researcher at Statistics and Information Department represented SESRIC thereat.

Within the framework of SESRIC’s Public Employment Services Capacity Building Programme (PES-CaB) and in line with the OIC Public Employment Services Network (OIC-PESNET) Work Plan 2021-2022, SESRIC organised a Training Workshop on “Knowledge-Economy, Promotion of Entrepreneurship Activities and Reducing Informal Employment” on 01-03 November 2022 through an online video conferencing platform.

Within the framework of its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised a Training Course on ‘SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) Indicators’ in collaboration with the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), with the participation of 70 experts from the National Statistical Offices (NSOs) and relevant Ministries of 15 OIC countries on 1-3 November 2022 through an online video conferencing platform.

Within the framework of the OIC Occupational Safety and Health Network (OIC-OSHNET) and in line with the OIC-OSHNET Work Plan 2021-2022, SESRIC, in its capacity as the OIC Technical Coordinator of the OIC-OSHNET, provided facilitation and necessary technical support for the Training Workshop on “Developing Strategies on Mainstreaming OSH into Education Systems” which was organized by the Directorate General of Occupational Safety and Health (DGOSH) at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of the Republic of Türkiye, in its capacity as the Secretariat of the Network, on 25-26 October 2022 through an online video conferencing platform.

Within the framework of its Diplomacy Capacity Building Programme (Diplomacy-CaB), SESRIC, in partnership with the Diplomacy Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye and the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF), organized a Training Course on “Humanitarian Diplomacy for the OIC Junior Diplomats” on 24-27 October 2022 through an online video conferencing platform. The training course was attended by 97 young diplomats from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of 30 OIC Member Countries.

Within the framework of the SESRIC Project titled “Fostering Information Technology (IT) Solutions to Improve the Effectiveness of Public Employment Services (PES) in the OIC Member Countries”, which is funded by the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) under the 9th Call for Project Proposals of COMCEC Project Funding, the Centre organised a Training Course on “Fostering Information Technology (IT) Solutions to Improve the Effectiveness of Public Employment Services (PES) in the OIC Member Countries” on 19-20 October 2022 through an online video conferencing platform.

Within the framework of the SESRIC Project titled “Improving the Regulatory Framework for PPPs in Transport Sector in the OIC Member Countries”, which is funded by the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) under the 9th Call for Project Proposals of COMCEC Project Funding, the Centre organised a Workshop on “Regulatory Framework for Public-Private Partnerships in Transport Sector” on 18-19 October 2022 through an online video conferencing platform.
