SESRIC organised a Study Visit on ‘Mortality Statistics’ for the benefit of two delegates from the State Statistical Committee (SSC) of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 27-29 March 2019 in Ankara, Republic of Turkey.

Within the capacity building component of the “Reverse Linkage Project between Sudan and Turkey”, a training was organized for the benefit of the Africa City of Technology (ACT) on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System Design on 24-31 March 2019.

SESRIC, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey, the Federal Ministry of Health of Republic of Sudan, and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) organized a training course on “Disaster and Prehospital Emergency Medicine” on 23-27 March 2019 in Mogadishu, Somalia.

Within the capacity building component of the “Reverse Linkage between Sudan and Turkey”, a familiarization visit was organized for the benefit of the Africa City of Technology (ACT) to techno-parks in Turkey during the period 20 March-05 April 2019.

SESRIC, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), UNDP Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) and United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) jointly organized a side event on “Private Sector Engagement in South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable Development” on 20 March 2019 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

SESRIC, ICCIA, IDB Group, ICDT and UNIDO-ITPO jointly organised a side event, under the Thematic Session “Sharing of Experiences, Best Practices and Success Stories”, with the Core Topic of “Role of OIC and its Institutions in Promoting South-South Cooperation among the 57 Member Countries” on 19 March 2019 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

A launch event for Security Sector Reform (SSR) Report for Libya was held on 18 March 2019 at SESRIC HQ in Ankara Turkey with the participation of ambassadors of the OIC Countries, Turkish and Libyan authorities, as well as heads of various institutions and think tanks.

SESRIC organised a Professional Skills for Official Statisticians Course on ‘Effective Written Communication Techniques’ on 18-19 March 2019 at the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) of the Republic of Albania within the framework of OIC Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme.

Relevant OIC Institutions came together in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, to attend the First Meeting of the Steering Committee for the implementation of OIC Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Agenda 2026. The Meeting took place at the COMSTECH Secretariat between 18 and 19 March 2019 and reviewed the draft implementation plan of the OIC STI Agenda.

SESRIC organised a research seminar on ‘the Role of Women in Development of OIC Member Countries’ on 15 March 2019 at 3.30 pm at its Headquarters in Ankara, Turkey.

SESRIC, in cooperation with the Islamic University of Uganda (IUIU), organised a technical mission to investigate the vegetable growing techniques on 12-14 March 2019 in Kampala, Uganda.

The Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) and United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) jointly organised the ‘Regional Workshop on the 2020 World Programme on Population and Housing Censuses: International Standards and Contemporary Technologies’ on 12-15 March 2019 at SESRIC Headquarters in Ankara, Turkey.

SESRIC and the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) signed a Protocol of Cooperation to strengthen the collaboration between the two institutions in the field of youth-related activities and ensuring the equal opportunities among all the OIC member countries, and other areas of common interests.

SESRIC and the Ministry of Health of Turkey organised a 3-week training course on “Intensive Care and Infection Control” on 11-29 March 2019 in the capital of Turkey, Ankara.

SESRIC, in its capacity as the Secretariat of the OIC Statistical Commission (OIC-StatCom), organised the Meeting with the Delegates of National Statistical Offices of OIC Member Countries on 7 March 2019 as a side event meeting of the 50th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission in New York, USA. Thirty-one delegates from 19 OIC member countries including Albania, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Gambia, Guyana, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mali, Mozambique, Oman, Palestine, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Suriname, Tunisia, Uganda and UAE, as well as two international organisations including United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA) attended the meeting.

HE Amb. Musa Kulaklıkaya, Director General of SESRIC participated as a panellist in the side event on Total Official Support for Sustainable Development (TOSSD) organised by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on 5 March 2019 on the margins of 50th Session of the UN Statistical Commission in New York.

The Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) and the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia signed today a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the collaboration in the field of official statistics.

In accordance with its 2018 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Statistics Course on ‘Sustainable Development Statistics’ at the Directorate of National Statistics (DNS), Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development of Somalia on 4-6 March 2019, with the participation of 42 officials of DNS of Somalia.

A Training Course on Citizen Journalism took place in the city of Tripoli in Libya between 03 and 14 March 2019, under the BINA Programme, carried out in partnership between the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Libyan Program for Reintegration and Development (LPRD).

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) and Selcuk University on 01 March 2019.
