The 46^th Session of the Council of Foreign Minister (CFM) was held on 1-2 March 2019 in Abu-Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

SESRIC has published the findings of its “Global Muslim Diaspora Report”, the first comprehensive study of Muslim communities living in the non-OIC countries, aiming to analyze challenges, experiences and perceptions on a range of issues related to Muslim communities living in non-OIC countries.

SESRIC organized a Study Visit on ‘Classifications’ for the benefit of two delegates from the Directorate of National Statistics (DNS) under the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development of the Federal Republic of Somalia. The visit took place on 26-27 February 2019 in Serrekunda, Republic of The Gambia, and hosted by the Gambia Bureau of Statistics (GBOS).

SESRIC organised a Study Visit on Corporate Social Responsibility for the benefit of a delegation of 5 Palestinians on 26-28 February 2019 in Ankara, Turkey.

SESRIC, in collaboration with Universal Postal Union (UPU) and La Poste Tunisienne, organised the Second Workshop on Electronic Postal Service Payments on 26-28 February 2019 in Tunis, Tunisia.

SESRIC, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey, the Federal Ministry of Health of Republic of Sudan, and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) jointly organised a training course on “Disaster and Prehospital Emergency Medicine” on 25 February – 1 March 2019 in Djibouti and Chad.

SESRIC hosted the Third Global Meeting of the Expert Group on Refugee and Internally Displaced Persons Statistics (EGRIS) at its Headquarters in Ankara, Turkey between 12 and 14 February 2019. Eighty-one officials from EGRIS members, including representatives of national statistical offices and other relevant governmental bodies from 19 OIC member countries, along with experts from 15 non-OIC countries, and 17 different regional and international organisations attended the meeting. A meeting on Stateless Persons Statistics was also hosted on 15 February 2019 as well as the 10^th Regional Workshop on the Experiences and Tools under MED-HIMS (Households International Migration Surveys in the Mediterranean countries - a programme initiated by European Union) took place between 14 and 16 February 2019 at SESRIC Headquarters.

SESRIC organised a Research Seminar on 'Achieving Peace and Security in a World of Turmoil: An Arduous Challenge for the OIC' on 08 February 2019 at its Headquarters in Ankara, Turkey.

The First Edition of the OIC Festival, hosted by the Arab Republic of Egypt on 5-9 February 2019 in Cairo, Egypt, was successfully concluded.

In accordance with its 2018 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Statistics Course on ‘Living Conditions, Poverty and Cross-Cutting Social Issues’ at the State Statistical Committee (SSC) of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 04-06 February 2019.

SESRIC staff members received a training course on Basic Disaster Awareness for SESRIC Staff from the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) on 04 February 2019, in Ankara, Turkey.

Forty-five Students from Côte d'Ivoire studying in Turkey gathered in Istanbul to attend a Training Course on Career Development organised by the OIC Intern Office in collaboration with Mental HR-Consultancy, a solution partners of the OIC Intern Programme, on 2-3 February 2019. The Training was organised within the framework of the OIC International Internship Programme.

The Seventh Meeting of the Total Official Support for Sustainable Development (TOSSD) Task Force was organised by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) between 30 January and 01 February 2019 in Paris, France. H.E. Amb. Musa Kulaklıkaya, Director General of SESRIC and Dr. Atilla Karaman, Acting Director of Statistics and Information Department of SESRIC, attended to the meeting on behalf of the Centre.

SESRIC’s project on “Digital Skills Development in OIC Countries” has been selected for funding by The Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC), within the 2019 Implementation Period of COMCEC Project Funding.

Turkish Red Crescent Society organised a meeting on the establishment of “The Red Crescent & Red Cross National Societies Network in the OIC Region" on 28-29 January 2019 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Representatives of partnering institutions from SESRIC, Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), the Turkish Coordination and Cooperation Agency (TIKA), the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) Marmara Technopark (MARTEK), Uludağ University Technology Development Zone (ULUTEK) and Africa City of Technology (ACT) came together on 27-28 January 2019 in the capital of Sudan, Khartoum to start-up the Reverse Linkage Project between Sudan (Recipient)  and Turkey (Provider) on  “Capacity Development of the African City of Technology (ACT)”.

SESRIC has published a new issue of the Did You Know? (DYK) series on the improvement recorded in Ease of Doing Business Score of OIC Member Countries.

SESRIC organised a Research Seminar to discuss the situation of street children and street children workers in OIC Countries. The event took place on 25 January 2018 at SESRIC Headquarters in Ankara, Turkey.

SESRIC organised a Statistics Course on ‘Infographics’ on 21-23 January 2019 at the Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPKE) of Brunei within the framework of OIC Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme.

 A 6-day ToT Pre-Training Programme for Libyan SME Experts took place in Tripoli, Libya between 19 and 24 January 2019, under the BINA SME Develop Project carried out in partnership between the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Libyan Program for Reintegration and Development (LPRD).
