SESRIC participated in the First Meeting of the Subgroup on Gender Statistics Training organised by the UN Women’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific on 16-18 January 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Sixty-two journalists from over 30 countries came together in the historical city of Istanbul in Turkey to attend the “Media Workshop on Organ Donation and Transplantation” between 16 and 18 January 2019. They shared their knowledge and experiences in covering organ donation and transplantation in their countries.

The State of Palestine has assumed the chairmanship of the Group of 77 and China, the largest UN block of developing countries. H.E. Mr. Mahmoud Abbas, President of Palestine, was handed the annual presidency of the G77 during a ceremony at the United Nations. In his speech, H.E. Mr. Abbas said that Palestine would use its chairmanship to preserve the multilateral international order and strengthen ties with UN partners.

SESRIC attended the 42^nd Session of Islamic Commission for Economics, Cultural and Social Affairs (ICECS) that took place on 15-17 January 2019 at the Headquarters of the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In accordance with its 2018 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Statistics Course on ‘Education Statistics’ at the Gambia Bureau of Statistics (GBoS) on 7-9 January 2019.
