SESRIC participated in and delivered a presentation at the 9th Expert Meeting on Statistics for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), organised by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) on 9–10 April 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland.

SESRIC participated in the closing ceremony of the “COSME Türkiye Project,” held on 8 April 2026 in Ankara, Türkiye. The ceremony marked the successful completion of the technical assistance project, which was implemented by KOSGEB under the Competitive Sectors Programme, co-financed by the European Union (EU) and the Republic of Türkiye.

Within the framework of SESRIC Digital Transformation Capacity Building Programme (Digi-CaB), and in collaboration with Turkish Satellite Corporation (TÜRKSAT), the Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS) and the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, SESRIC organised a virtual Training Course on “Digital Identity and e-Government Services in OIC Countries” on 8-9 April 2026.

SESRIC hosted the inaugural session of its “SESRIC Conversations” series titled “Global Action for Universal Health Coverage (UHC)” on 7 April 2026, in observance of World Health Day. As a new platform designed to bring together policymakers, thinkers, and development partners, SESRIC Conversations aims to exchange insights, align priorities, and deepen cooperation on the most pressing socioeconomic issues of our times.

SESRIC participated in the 1^st International Halal Accreditation Congress, organised by the Republic of Türkiye Halal Accreditation Agency (HAK) in Ankara on 6-8 April 2026 under the theme “The Milestone of Trust in the Global Halal Quality Infrastructure: Halal Accreditation.” The Congress brought together public representatives, academics, sector stakeholders, experts, and diplomats from various countries to discuss the future of halal conformity assessment and accreditation from technical, institutional, and policy perspectives.

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK delivered a video message at a high-level seminar organised by OIC General Secretariat and the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Türkiye to the OIC, marking the International Day of Zero Waste.

SESRIC participated in the “Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) Young Climate Volunteers Camp 2026,” co-organised by ICYF and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Türkiye. The Camp was held in Istanbul, from 3–15 April 2026 under the theme “Empowering Youth for Climate Action to Build Climate-Resilient Communities.” Dr. Moynul AHSAN and Mr. Muzamil EDEMA, researchers at the Economic and Social Research Department, represented SESRIC thereat.

SESRIC and OSTIM Technical University renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at SESRIC Headquarters in Ankara to further enhance their cooperation endeavours.

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a meeting with Prof. Dr. Kasım YENİGÜN, Director General for Combating Desertification and Erosion at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of the Republic of Türkiye, at the SESRIC Headquarters.

SESRIC participated in the online Stakeholder Consultation Meeting held by FAO Türkiye on 2 April 2026 to present and discuss the new Country Programming Framework (CPF) for Türkiye covering the period 2026–2030. The meeting was convened to share experiences from the previous CPF cycle (2021-2025) and to consult with national and international stakeholders on the strategic priorities and structure of the forthcoming framework.

SESRIC, as the Executing Organ of the Vocational Education and Training Programme for Member Countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-VET), hosted the fourth OIC-VET Consultative Meeting on 1 April 2026. The fourth Meeting was conducted in French through an online video conferencing platform.

Within the framework of SESRIC Competition Authorities Capacity Building Programme (CA-CaB), SESRIC organised a webinar on “Key Digital Challenges for Competition Authorities and Potential Solutions” on 31 March 2026.

SESRIC participated in the International Strategic Communication Summit (StratCom) 2026 under the theme “Disruption in the International System: Crises, Narratives, and the Search for Order”, organised by the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye Directorate of Communications in Istanbul on 27–28 March 2026. The Summit brought together 11 ministers from 10 countries and more than 60 senior officials from around the world.

SESRIC, as a founding member of the Forum, participated in the meetings of the International Forum on Total Official Support for Sustainable Development (TOSSD) held in a hybrid format in Paris, France on 16-18 March 2026. The programme included the 2nd Meeting of the Statistical Working Group on 16-17 March 2026, and the 5th Meeting of the Steering Group on 17-18 March 2026. The Forum meetings brought together members of the Forum to advance methodological and strategic discussions on TOSSD as an international framework for measuring officially supported resources in support of sustainable development.

Within the framework of its Water Resources Management Capacity Building Programme (Water-CaB), SESRIC, the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and the Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS) jointly organised a Workshop on “Enhancing Water Resources for Sustainable Food Security” on 11 March 2026.

SESRIC and the BPS-Statistics Indonesia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the existing cooperation in the field of official statistics and to further enhance collaboration in supporting the development of national statistical systems across the OIC Member Countries. The signing ceremony took place on 5 March 2026 on the sidelines of the 57^th Session of the UN Statistical Commission convened in New York.

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a meeting with Dr. Shantanu Mukherjee, Head of the Economic Analysis and Policy Division at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), on the margins of the 57^th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission in New York City.

In the margins of the 57^th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC), which was held in New York City from 3 to 6 March 2026, Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), in collaboration with the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), organised a side event titled “Strengthening Agricultural Census Systems in OIC Countries: Lessons Learned and Future Directions” on 5 March 2026 (13:15–14:30, EST). The side event was hosted at the Turkish House (Türkevi Center) / Turkish Mission in New York.

SESRIC delegation, led by H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK participated in the Malaysia–Tajikistan MoU Signing Ceremony held on 4 March 2026 at the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the UN on the margins of the 57^th Session of the UN Statistical Commission in New York.

A SESRIC delegation led by H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK met with H.E. Amb. Hameed Ajibaiye OPELOYERU, Permanent Observer of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to the United Nations, on the margins of the 57^th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission held in New York City.
