Within the framework of its Tourism Capacity Building Programme (Tourism-CaB), SESRIC organised a Training Course on “Effective Strategic Planning for the Promotion of Sustainable Tourism Development” on 24-26 August 2021 through an online video conferencing platform.

SESRIC and Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to facilitate collaboration and cooperation between both institutions within the framework of the project titled “Integration of the Tobacco Questions for Surveys (TQS) into the National Surveys in Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member Countries”. The MoA was signed on 19 August 2021 by HE. Mr. Nebil DABUR, Director General of SESRIC, and HE. Dr. Ola AWAD, President of PCBS.

Within the framework of its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised an Online Training Course on ‘Banking, Insurance and Financial Statistics’ with the participation of 34 attendees from the National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of 11 OIC countries on 17-19 August 2021.

Within the framework of its Water Resources Management Capacity Building Programme (Water-CaB), SESRIC, in cooperation with the Inter-Islamic Network on Water Resources Development and Management (INWRDAM), organised a Training Workshop on “Water Monitoring Network and Early Warning System” on 16-19 August 2021 through an online video conferencing platform.

Within the framework of SESRIC’s Agriculture and Food Security Capacity Building Programme (Agri-CaB), the Centre organised a Training Course on “Food Waste Reduction” on 10-12 August 2021 through an online video conferencing platform.

The International Conference on the 'Best Practices for Building Sustainable Food Systems in the OIC Region’ was organized virtually by the Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS) on 14 July 2021. The conference was part of the Inter-Regional Dialogue on South-South Cooperation, which was held in conjunction with the Food Systems Summit 2021. The conference was attended by high-level representatives from OIC member countries, relevant OIC institutions, and other international organizations. SESRIC participated in the conference with a delegation headed by H.E. Mr. Nebil DABUR, Director General, and composed of Mr. Mazhar Hussain, Director of Economic and Social Research Department and Dr. Fahman Fathurrahman, Researcher.

SESRIC and the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), member of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, launched on 12 July 2021 a technical report investigating the potential impacts of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) on selected OIC countries, namely Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Guinea, Mozambique, Tunisia and Uganda.

SESRIC and National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) of Republic of Mali signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to facilitate collaboration and cooperation between both institutions within the framework of the project titled “Integration of Tobacco Questions for Surveys of Youth (TQS-Youth) into the National Surveys in Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member Countries”. The MoA was signed by HE. Mr. Nebil DABUR, Director General of SESRIC and HE. Dr. Arouna SOUGANE, Director General of INSTAT of Republic of Mali on 8 July 2021.

The 8^th Session of the OIC Ministerial Conference on Women was held on 6 – 8 July 2021 in Cairo, Egypt under the theme of “Preserving the Achievements of Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women in the Lights of the COVID-19 Pandemic and Beyond”. The Conference was organized by The National Council for Women of the Arab Republic of Egypt in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The Conference brought together Ministers Incharge of Women’s Affairs, representatives of relevant OIC institutions and international organizations. SESRIC was represented at the Conference by Mr. Mazhar Hussain, Director of Economic and Social Research, and Ms. Tazeen Qureshi, Researcher.

Within the framework of its Webinar Series on Statistical Experience Sharing, SESRIC organised a webinar on ‘Remote Data Collection Methods to Overcome the Challenges Faced by the NSOs During the COVID-19 Pandemic’ in collaboration with National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of Indonesia, Malaysia, Palestine, Senegal, and Turkey on 6 July 2021 with the participation of 57 attendees from the NSOs of 17 OIC countries.

Within the framework of the Vocational Education and Training Programme for the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-VET) and in line with the OIC-TVET Strategic Roadmap 2020-2025, SESRIC organised a Training Course on “Developing of Occupational Standards, Qualifications and Skills Assessment Materials” on 30 June-07 July 2021 through an online video conferencing platform.

SESRIC, in collaboration with the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), organised a Workshop on ‘Use of Administrative Registers for Population and Housing Censuses’ on 29-30 June 2021 through a video conferencing platform with the participation of 126 attendees from the NSOs of 32 OIC member countries and representatives of United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and US Census Bureau.

Within the framework of its Webinar Series on Statistical Experience Sharing, SESRIC organised a Webinar on ‘Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Statistics in OIC Countries’ on 28 June 2021 in collaboration with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) with the participation of 81 official statisticians working in National Statistical Offices (NSOs) and Central Banks of 32 OIC countries as well as the representatives of the Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf (GCC-Stat).

Within the framework of its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised an Online Training Course on 'SDG 13 (Climate Action) Indicators' with the participation of 41 attendees from the National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of 10 OIC countries on 22-25 June 2021.

Within the framework of the OIC-OSHNET Work Plan 2021-2022, the Directorate General of Occupational Safety and Health (DGOSH) of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of the Republic of Turkey, in its capacity as the Secretariat of the OIC Occupational Safety and Health Network (OIC-OSHNET), organised a Training Course on “The Application of the OIC/SMIIC Standards on OSH” on 21-23 June 2021 through an online video conferencing platform.

SESRIC, in its capacity as the Secretariat of OIC Statistical Commission (OIC-StatCom), organised a Workshop on ‘Coordination within the National Statistical Systems (NSSs)’ in collaboration with the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) – with additional contributions of Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (PARIS21), United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA), and United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) – on 15-17 June 2021 through a video conferencing platform with the participation of 84 attendees for the NSOs of 31 OIC countries and 5 international organisations.

Within the framework of SESRIC’s Public Audit Capacity Building Programme (PAU-CaB), the Centre, in collaboration with the Turkish Court of Accounts, organised a Training Workshop on “Quality Management in Public Audit” on 15-16 June 2021 through an online video conferencing platform.

Within the framework of its Webinar Series on Statistical Experience Sharing, SESRIC organised a webinar on ‘Big Data Applications and Utilising Non-Traditional Data Sources and Methods for Official Statistics’ in collaboration with National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of Indonesia, Jordan, Malaysia, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the Statistics Division of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA) on 10 June 2021 with the participation of 60 attendees from the NSOs of 17 OIC countries and 2 international organisations.

Within the framework of its Webinar Series on Statistical Experience Sharing, SESRIC organised a webinar on ‘Motor Vehicles, Traffic Volume and Road Traffic Accidents Statistics’ on 3 June 2021 with the participation of 30 attendees from the National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of 21 OIC member countries.

SESRIC, in collaboration with the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR), organised the 3^rd Meeting of the OIC Public Employment Services Network (OIC-PESNET) on 02-03 June 2021 through an online video conferencing platform.
